This is a question we hear all the time. Unfortunately, there is not an exact scientific answer to the question. We have done some testing and lots of research on this topic and wanted to provide a best guess user guide. Let’s start with the easy one.
Can I take too much CBD? Possibly! At this time, I haven’t found any research studies but, that doesn’t mean you should go out there and overdose your daily CBD. On the other hand, not enough will provide lackluster results. All our research has revealed that getting the right amount by listening to your body is really the key. So what is the right amount you ask? Great question. The right amount of CBD depends on a few factors: your size (weight), and the severity of your condition.
Here are some real world scenarios:
Let’s say you just need something to take the edge off of life. You weigh 100-160 lbs. and life’s stresses are just getting you down. Starting on the low side would be ideal. 5-10 mg is a great starting dose for a person like this. Start with once a day, say 5mg with your morning meal, and build from there. As you continue to move up in volume, consider changing to twice daily. Again, the key is to listen to your body and slowly increase dosage until you find your sweet spot.
Let’s say you weigh 125 lbs. and are dealing with the side effects of chemotherapy. Starting out at a severe dose would be ideal here. 10 mg in the morning and 5 mg afternoon would be good starting point, and moving up until you find the relief you are looking for. Some research has shown to take 50mg-100mg or more daily, but split throughout the day, half in the morning an half afternoon.
You just turned the magical 50 and decided you’re going to get into shape, but quickly realize you’re not as young as you used to be. The aches and pains from your workouts are getting in the way of your new goal. Arthritis may be a factor. Starting with a (5-10mg) mild daily dose of CBD and working towards a medium dose (15-30mg) is a great way to get over those pains and mental block to push ahead!
Your acidity may be a factor in how you are feeling.
Look at testing your saliva and urine with PH-test strips and work on making your body more alkaline (7.25-7.5 range). The more acidic you are the more potential health issues may arise. Reduce acidic foods and look at PH-Balancer products.
These are some suggested guidelines to get you started.
Slow and steady wins the race!
Another key to CBD is slow and steady. Large shots of CBD are great for quick fixes, but “microdosing” is the best. Taking small amounts everyday will give you optimal results (10-15mg), especially when using full spectrum CBD, which provides you with most cannabinoids.
